What’s It About?
This workshop examines the impact of ethics on the successful leader and successful organization. Proving the value of strong ethical values is the first step toward creating an ethical culture in any organization. This workshop explores the traits of successful leaders and ethical persons to examine similarities and determine desirable traits. The instructor discusses how barriers impede ethical decisions and how to overcome those barriers.

What You’ll Learn
Following this workshop, attendees will have a better understanding of how to make ethical decisions and the impact of those decisions on their organization’s culture. Attendees will:

  • Gain an understanding of the risks associated with ethical failure.
  • Develop tools for making ethical decisions.
  • Learn how moral courage supports those decisions.
  • Prepare to take a leadership role.

Leaders today face more challenges than ever before. Developing skills to make the right choices has impact far beyond the individual. This course will set tomorrow’s leaders on the path to developing the skills needed to accept those challenges and succeed.

Fort Worth CPCU Society Chapter - 2010 Survey Results

On May 13th, 2010, a survey was emailed to all of our active members.  The goal was to gather feedback on how we could improve our meetings and what types of speakers our membership were most interested in and to ask who was interested in leadership and committee positions.  We had roughly a 13% response rate to the survey from those polled.

Of those responding, they had on average attended seven out of the twelve listed activities during the year which included monthly meetings, Tradefest, Dallas’ I-Day, the Golf Tournament and our Social at Joe T. Garcia’s.

Some of the comments were that several members were interested in more luncheons which offered Continuing Education Credits and that these needed to be more widely publicized in advance of the meetings.   There was also a suggestion to have more structure to the meetings.  A focus on having professional speakers from groups such as Toastmasters was suggested.  In general, the responders enjoyed the mix of the speakers which included those from legal, regulatory, carrier and other industries throughout the year.

Increased attendance at the Social was also mentioned as a goal for next year so that we could get to know each other better. Having another industry-related group join in our social was requested so that we might reach out to more people who might be interested in starting their CPCU designation.

The names of those people that responded to being interested in serving as a leader or on a committee will be forwarded to the officers so they can make sure to include these volunteers.

If anyone has additional comments they would like included in the survey results, please feel free to email or call me.

Sincerely,

Anne Lydahl, Director

Good Works - You can make a difference!

Good Works – Lena Pope Home

Imagine being a child in the foster care system.
Imagine carrying your meager belongings from home to home in a garbage bag.
Imagine not even having the basic toiletry items the rest of us use every day.
This is reality for many of the kids Lena Pope Home regularly serves.

As in years prior, at the December 1, 2009 general meeting,
the Fort Worth CPCU Chapter presented Kathy Jo Zeigler with backpacks full
of shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant and other personal care items .

Happily, Steve McElhiney and his coworkers at EWI Risk Services assisted
by also bringing finished backpacks to the December meeting.
